We've spent the last couple of days celebrating the 100th Day of School and have been very busy! Take a look at just some of the interesting and imaginative things we did! Building 100 in a Variety of WaysEmerson's 100th Day of School Project-100 Reasons Why I Love SchoolThis is so awesome! You did a wonderful job, Emerson! Think Outside the BoxStudents were given the numbers 1-0-0 and asked to use those 3 numbers to create an imaginative picture, but it couldn't be a 100. They came up with some wonderful ideas! :) "Before I Am 100" Bucket ListI cannot believe some of the things they came up with! My pictures don't do these justice, so I'll list just some of my favorites: -Go to space -Live in BC -Go on a train -Drive a motorcycle -Go to the Arctic -Go on an airplane -Be a mad scientist -Be famous -Airplane walk (sounds scary!) -Live in a hotel -Have a pink car :) -Be a doctor -Go to Disneyland -Be a teacher :) -Crash a helicopter without dying (also sounds scary!!) -Go to Mexico -Be on the News :) -Stop drinking pop -Count to 10,000 -Be a race card driver -Play in the NBA Some of these are Hilarious!!! Others sound super scary! And still others are great long-term goals!! :) 100 Year Old PortraitsAsking children to imagine what they would look like when they are 100 years old is simply priceless! After we got through the discussion that indeed some people do live to be 100 years old, they got to work on their masterpiece 100 Year Old Self-Portraits. Check them out... These are so awesome!! Yesterday, we had another Publishing Celebration! All the children worked so hard to fix up their writing and fancy up their picture and they got to show off their hard work yesterday. I forgot to take pictures of the actual writing pieces like I usually do, but I did snap some of the children sharing their writing with others and then, of course, our celebratory toast afterwards. :) So sorry for the delay in getting these pictures out for you! Technical difficulties...but here they are now!
Today was a great day!! Very busy, but GREAT! We did all sorts of 'Valentiny' things! Check them out...
Valentine Centers
We participated in four Valentine centers:
--Valentine Writing-write anything you want about Valentine's Day --Valentine Battleship-using 10 candy hearts, place them on a 100s chart and play Battleship (Hit or Miss) with a partner --Valentine Riddles-solve the addition sentences to solve the Valentine riddles --Valentine Word Problems-choose a Valentine word problem and solve it Valentine Minute to Win It
Named after the popular TV show, Minute to Win It, our Valentine Minute to Win It was just that...you have 1 minute to successfully complete the various challenges on the Valentine Obstacle Course. They were:
--Using a Twizzler licorice, blow the pixie dust out of the circle --Unwrap a Hershey's Kiss using only 1 hand --Place your Smarties on the chart, count them and write the Tens and Ones This was so much fun!! And the children were concentrating so hard that this was the quietest minute of the day! :)

Valentine's Day Potluck
Thank you to everyone who volunteered to supply us with a delicious lunch and to our Den Parents for organizing everything! The children loved it! :)
Exchanging Valentines
And for what may have been the most exciting part of the day...Exchanging Valentine's! The children got a chance to both pass out their Valentines to all their classmates and look through the Valentines they received from others. :)
Thank you so much to all those volunteers who showed up today to help with skating! It was a little more chaotic than normal, but hopefully we'll have all the wrinkles ironed out for next week. All in all, it was still a great time! :) |
