I seem to be behind on my Zippy updates again...can't seem to keep caught up to that little guy! Here's what he's been up to lately...
We have now finished presenting all of our Christmas Family Traditions Projects and they turned out to be fantastic!! Thank you to everyone who participated in the projects with the children at home. They were very enjoyable to listen to and look at and the kids had a wonderful time sharing them with the class. Take a look... Here's a closer look at the beautiful books... And our close up sharing session once everyone had presented. They were all very proud of their hard work! Stay tuned to individual student pages for individual videos of the student's presentations. It may take me a while to get them all up and ready, but they will be there as soon as possible...
On Friday, we celebrated the Gingerbread Man. We took part in various Gingerbread Activities as centers throughout the morning, but by far the favorite activity was what turned into our Gingerbread Scavenger Hunt... We started by reading this book... When we were almost finished reading, something fell out of the book that looked and sounded like the first clue to a Gingerbread Man Hunt! Run, run as fast as you can! You can’t catch me! I’m the Gingerbread Man! Look for me where there are lots of books. So, once we figured out that the clue wanted us to go to the Library, we took off! There was no stopping this group... The Finder of the Library Clue... I’ve read lots of books, But I’m gone, can’t you see? I’m a Gingerbread Man and you can’t catch me! Look for me by a friendly face who answers phones in a busy place. Off we headed to the Secretaries desk! The secretary has a friendly face, And answers phones in a busy place. Although, this place is really cool, Find me by the leader of our school. Who's the leader of our school? Why, Mrs. Hallett of course! This is the principal’s office. She’s nice, you know. She told me not to run anymore, But to walk, wherever I go. Go find me where lunches are made. The cafeteria! This is the cafeteria. These friends like us a bunch, And always make sure we have a good lunch. I’m getting a bit tired as you can see, Room 6 in Red Wing is where I’ll be! It took a little more time to figure out they could look on the doors of the Red Wing classrooms to find which was Room 6, but... They figured out that it was our Room!! I ran and I ran and I needed some rest. This room was absolutely the best! Now that I’m rested I’ve run off, can’t you see? But I’ve left behind some friends so you will remember me! Love, The Gingerbread Man So, then we just had to decorate our Gingerbread Friends! Thursday afternoon (after our Grinchy morning), we completed some Christmas Tree art. They look stunning! Wow! What a week! We have been super BUSY, but it's been a very FUN busy! :) On Monday and Tuesday, we completed a ton of Grinch activities in preparation for our Grinch Day on Wednesday. Well, Mother Nature didn't really cooperate, so we celebrated on Thursday instead! Take a look at all the awesome things we did... Grinchy AdjectivesDr. Seuss' book How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a fabulous book to use to learn all about adjectives. An adjective is a word used to describe or tell about a person, place or thing. Look at the list of words we brainstormed together that tell all about the Grinch... We did several other Grinchy Adjective activities, but making our own Grinches and writing Grinchy adjectives on him was by far the favorite! Grinchy Story ProblemsWe also tried our hand at some Grinchy Story Problems... Grinch Day!We had a visit from Cindy Lou Who on Grinch Day and a classmate wore a pretty Grinch Button... A Very Grinchy Snack! While we were out of the classroom for recess, the Green Guy dropped by and left a very Grinchy Snack... Luckily, I had something much more fun for everyone to eat... We also had lots of other Grinchy Green snacks... The Grinch also left us another little Tricky Treat! Who PuddingGrinch DustLook at all that Grinchy Green!Grinch Faces!! Here's just one great example of our Santa's Stuck Reader's Theatre that we practiced this week. All the children had such a wonderful time practicing and performing this! Leave a comment in the comment box below and let these 2 lovely girls know just how awesome they did performing this... 'Guess My Number' is a number game that is played with 2 people. The first person to go gives the other person a clue as to what their number is using the words 1 more, 2 more, 1 less, 2 less. For example, my number is 2 more than 17. Then, the second person can guess what the first person's number is and take their turn. Thank you to our lovely models for showing us what playing the game correctly looks like :)
We had some very excited children on Tuesday when they arrived at school to find an Elf on the Shelf waiting for them! His name is Zippy and he can get into all sorts of situations! Check him out so far in the pics below. We also started an Elf Journal today so we could record some of his more hilarious antics! Day 1Day 2Day 3Elf Journals |
