Here's a little video I put together about our day spent with Heidi on Friday :)

Today, during Math time, we took part in some measurement centers. We measured different lengths, played a measuring game, used the balance scales and played with Cuisenaire rods. Today, we had a very special visitor...my dog, Heidi! For the past two weeks, we have been learning about Pet Awareness and how to be safe around dogs. Today, we got a chance to practice our new skills. The children were all great with her and she was, as always, wonderful with them! Everyone had a fantastic time! We also took some time to write about her... Our walk to the Esso for ice cream was successful and the ice cream was yummy! We got back just in time for lunch :) For the past week, we've been practicing a reader's theatre from the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Today, we had our final rehearsal and then filmed it. A Reader's Theatre is a great tool for practicing fluency and expression. We hope you like it! Here's another little video that I put together about our experience with releasing the butterflies yesterday. It's cute...enjoy! We may have gotten a little wet towards the end of our trip, but that didn't stop us from having a great time at Orchard Park this afternoon! We walked to the park, picked out good spots to lay out our picnics, ate and had a few minutes to play before having to pack up and walk back before the rain got too bad. Perhaps we'll get another chance to try it again next week... This morning, we had our last author celebration. I am very pleased with how well all of the children are writing now! We have been working hard on writing a lot over the past term and I'm very proud of each and every one of the children and how much they have improved. This last piece of published writing will be coming home soon...look for it shortly in your child's writing folder. Yesterday, before the children arrived at school, I was able to snap this video of 3 butterflies emerging from their chrysalis' at the same time. Why do you think the butterfly climbed up the wall of the butterfly net? |
