On Thursday, we had an opportunity to complete some Easter Art...very cute Easter Bunnies! We used the following materials to complete this art: pencil, pastel and watercolor paint. Check them out! Can you tell which part was completed by each of the materials? They are beautiful! :)

This morning, we went to the Superstore to learn all about healthy eating. Our tour guide, Michelle was awesome. She showed us what a food guide looks like and took us all around the store to talk about the four food groups. We played a game with some fruits and vegetables and learned that we should only eat Fruit Loops once in a while. We also learned that some food items have stars. Be sure to ask your child all about the four food groups and how the stars work! Then, we got to enjoy a healthy snack of a cheese string and a cup of fresh fruit. YUM! Thank you to Mrs. French and Mrs. Cameron for joining us! :) For the last 2 months, we have been working hard on an Arctic animals project for the Harp Seal. We have projects on: -Harp Seal habitat (box habitat) -Harp Seal life cycle (posters) -Harp Seal body (sculptures) -Harp Seal interesting facts (posters) All of our hard work paid off this morning when we got to present our projects to Ms. Maloney's class. First, we practiced what we wanted to teach them and what we wanted them to learn since we are now grade one experts on the Harp Seal. This project was a lot of work, but so fun to do! Check out the pics below to see all of our hard work. Great job, Students (aka Harp Seal experts)!! I'm proud of you all!! :) Project PortraitsProject Close UpsProject FairOnce we were finished presenting our projects, then we got to go to Ms. Maloney's class and learn all about the Arctic Fox. Their projects were awesome too! Today, we used the items we collected for the SPCA to practice our counting, number ordering, sorting and numbers to 100. We grouped them into groups of 10 and counted to 100. Then, we sorted and put all the like items together and got them all bagged up to take to the Fredericton SPCA this afternoon! This year, in my attempt to teach my students the importance of giving back to our community, I decided to incorporate a project into our 100th Day of School celebrations. Our project was to collect 100 items to donate to our local SPCA organization. I was blown away with the amount of enthusiasm the students had for the project and by the amount of support parents gave us as well. I want to send out a HUGE "Thank You!" to everyone who took the time to purchase items and send them in with your children. Everyone's contribution counted! As students brought in their items, they got to record a number on a sticky and stick it to their item. Each item had a number and that is how we kept track of how many items we had. Just about half way there!! Today, this lovely young lady brought in the rest of what we needed to get us to 100! :) This is what 100 items for the SPCA looks like! Awesome work everyone!! :)
