Friday was our end of year field trip to Cineplex and Orchard Park. You'll have to check out our Twitter feed to see the few pics I took before Finding Dory started. After returning from the movie, we grabbed our lunches and headed to Orchard Park for a picnic and some playtime. The children had a wonderful time!!

later, they built their chrysalis' and 1-2 weeks after that, they emerged transformed into butterflies! We kept the butterflies for about a week in their butterfly net before releasing them to be free in their wild, natural habitat. It's a pretty amazing process to watch. Ask your child to tell you all about caterpillars and butterflies...they are experts now! If you ever get the chance to have your own, I highly recommend it :)

This afternoon, we had a special guest speaker join us from the FSPCA. She spoke to us about some very important things that we all need to remember when dealing with dogs: -What do dogs need -How to be safe around dogs -What to do when you meet a strange dog (both with and without an owner) -How to avoid a dog bite -How to treat dogs Of course, to make this SPCA day even more special, Heidi joined us! Check it out... All year long, we've been working with Mr. McInerney's grade five class on different activities and last week, we had a little celebration to end our year together. We made root beer floats! Reactions were mixed as to who really liked them and who didn't. I, for one, did! :) Don't forget your cheque books on June 22...Family Picnic Day! You definitely won't want to miss out on the opportunity to get this sweet keepsake for your child! :)
Yesterday, we visited the Dr. Everett Chalmer's Hospital and learned a ton of new things about what to expect if we ever have to make an emergency trip or an overnight stay there. A piece of cake...nothing to worry about! Our volunteer teacher, Mrs. Vail was so knowledgeable and kept us all in stitches. She showed us lots of different things, took us on a short tour of the pediatric wing upstairs and even casted 40 broken fingers! I bet you couldn't imagine that 40 children would break their fingers at the exact same time and need casts :) |
