We had a fantastic time this morning celebrating Fall and Halloween! We did Halloween Centers until recess: I Spy Halloween pictures, Pumpkin Jumble, Roll A Pumpkin, Halloween Color By Number, Halloween on Starfall and Halloween Apps on the iPads. After recess, we joined Miss Bird's class for all the wonderful treats and a Halloween Video. Check out our pictures below and let us know what you think...

Just in case you and your child would like to bake the same gingerbread we made today at Kings Landing...here is the recipe:
2 cups flour 1/2 cup lard 1 tsp. baking soda in 1 cup hot water 1 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. baking powder 1 cup molasses 1/2 cup brown sugar Enjoy! It is Yummy! We had a wonderful trip to Kings Landing today. Even though it was rainy, it didn't rain too hard and we stayed reasonably dry. Please ask your child all about their trip. What did the boys do? What did the girls do? What did we all do together? How are our lives today different from how a boy or girl would have lived 100 years ago? Check out our pictures and feel free to comment in the comment section below... Today, we talked about ways we can be safe on Halloween while Trick or Treating. Please follow the link below to watch a video we made all about Halloween Safety Tips: http://nmes.nbed.nb.ca/teacher/video/halloween-safety-tips-0 Each Monday, I will post a Problem of the Week for your child to work on at home (with your help) and post their thoughts, questions, answers to it here on the blog when they think they may have something to share about it. Please encourage your child to complete the majority of the work. The topics may sometimes be related to math concepts we have not yet touched on in class...some children may be aware of them already and some may not. Most importantly, have fun! Shelly and her father go to the deli. They buy 3 onion bagels and 3 sesame bagels. Then they decide to buy 1 plain bagel. How many bagels do they buy in all? It seems like it's been a while since we've posted! It has been a very busy last couple of weeks! Since today was Friday, we had Friday Centers. This week, the centers included LOTS of reading, some writing and some math. We used Scootpad to practice our math skills, we used Raz Kids to practice our reading skills (if our Published Writing was finished) and we used journals to practice our writing skills. We also got to listen to reading with some great Halloween stories. Check out our pics below and let us know what you think: This week for Learning Buddies, we had Tech Buddies. We got to log into our Scootpad accounts and practice our reading and math...all with our Grade 5 Buddies! It couldn't get any better :) Thank you, Learning Buddies for helping us out! Once students finished their Lollipop word work activity, they got to go directly to making Play Do words! This time they used our word wall words though. Check out our pictures below... |
