Today was 'Bring Your Own Board Game' day and the children had a blast! All of those who brought a board game had an opportunity to teach their table mates how to play the game and be the leader of that game. We had some interesting lessons on how to follow rules, taking turns, fair play and not be 'the boss' all the time, but those are the good lessons board games can teach us, right? :)

Thank you to all who took the time and effort in helping their child with their Christmas Family Tradition Project. They turned out wonderfully! Check them out... Everyone got a chance to present their project to their classmates, complete with picture and video. Each individual project video is posted on the Student Pages. You can find all videos there. Today was a lot of fun! We started out by reading the story Polar Express and completing a couple of literacy activities with the story. Then, after recess we got our own tickets to board the Polar Express, be served refreshments and watch the movie. :)
Here's the Dress Rehearsal of our Christmas Concert. I knew I wouldn't have much of a chance to record the actual Christmas Concert so this is the next best thing. :)
This was our first attempt at drawing cows step-by-step. Not bad for the first try...we'll keep practicing! :) All this week, we've been doing fun activities around Dr. Seuss' book How the Grinch Stole Christmas. We read the story and had a very good discussion around the message or Dr. Seuss' big idea: "Maybe Christmas doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas means a little bit more" We also discussed what an 'adjective' means and made our own list of 'Grinchy' adjectives that describe the Grinch before and after. We then completed these super cute Grinches and labelled them with adjectives. Our classroom is looking very 'Grinchy' right now with Grinches hanging all over the place! On Thursday, we had a special Grinch Day where we got to do all sorts of things Grinch like these Grinch activities...skip counting with the Grinch and searching for Grinchy words with a magnifying glass. We made Who Pudding. It tasted delicious!! And of course, it was green :) We made Grinch Dust to protect our homes from the Green Guy! Guess what color it turned out to be? We had lots of Grinchy snacks! To start, the Grinch dropped off a snack he thought we'd like... It turned out that the boys and girls didn't really feel like eating his snack, but seemed to enjoy the Grinchy snack I brought in... And everyone brought in their own Grinchy green snacks! :) The Grinch left us one last surprise before leaving...
It's ice cream party time!! We won the ice cream party from Mrs. Barry :) We will be having this this coming Friday, December 11 at 1:00.
