We had such a blast at Everett's Family Orchard today! We went on a wagon ride (we saw some horses, bee hives, plastic ducks, an old barn and lots of beautiful scenery). Then, we got to pick MacIntosh apples and even got to eat one...it was delicious! Once we were finished picking apples, we had some time to have a little more snack and check out the horses up close. Take a look at our pictures and let us know what you think...

On Friday, we had our first mini science experiment with Magic Playdoh. I gave each student a ziploc bag containing one ball of white playdoh. After discussing what makes a good science experiment, I asked students to predict what they thought would happen when they squeezed the ball of playdoh. There were a variety of predictions, but no one predicted that they playdoh would actually change colors! We then read the following poem together and declared that we all would be having a fantastic year together!! :) BeforeDuringAfterOver the first week of school, we spend lots of time participating in activities that encourage us to get to know one another. Here students are finding other classmates that like certain things...swimming, playing baseball, cooking, singing, etc. Friends in the making... :) On the first day of school, we made self-portraits and I have to say that I absolutely love how these turned out! I think I have some real artists on my hands this year! :) We all had a wonderful first day of Grade One! The students are all very proud to be first graders! And so cute!! :) |
